I've always loved Kickstarter. I've had some great luck with the projects I've backed, getting some really cool stuff. Here are some games that caught my eye recently - I've backed all of these, so that shows you I'm definitely invested in them!
The Lady and the Tiger
$9 plus shipping - Kickstarter Link
I'm always on the lookout for games that my husband and I can play by ourselves. The Lady and the Tiger has multiple versions for different amounts of players, but there are two versions that are playable for two players - and one of them is two player specific!
The other benefit to this game is that the art looks AMAZING. I'm a sucker for a pretty game. Plus, at $9 (plus $5 US shipping), the game is super affordable. I can't wait to try this one out!
Clash of Steel
$12 plus shipping - Kickstarter Link
Clash of Steel's appeal was that it is specifically a two player game, and it doesn't involve random elements. It brings to mind the type of turn-based game you might play against a computer, except you're obviously playing against another person!
I especially like games where it's more about trying to out-wit your opponent, rather than out-roll them, so this looks like a perfect game for my husband and I to go head to head with!
Red Scare Redux
$25 plus shipping - Kickstarter Link
I'll be honest. I didn't do a really good job of reading the description on this one - the artwork just caught my eye and I went with it.
Now, going back and looking more carefully, I realized I'm even more excited! A team based card game, that can still be played with 2-3 players instead of teams looks like a great addition to my gaming arsenal. The rules seem pretty easy to pick up, and did I mention the art looks cool?! This one is a longer game than the previous two, saying it takes 30-60 minutes to play, so I'll have to save this one for my more hard-core gaming nights.
Grannies & Kitties
~$24 including shipping - Kickstarter Link
I'll be honest - this is the one I'm least sure about of all of the games. That's mainly because it seems a little high cost for what you're getting, and the description isn't completely clear (it's being created by a Spanish speaker, so I think that's the issue there).
However, how could I possibly resist a card game where the goal is to collect kitties?! I know this one will be a huge hit with my stepdaughter, so I definitely had to get it. Plus, it looks pretty simple to pick up, and the art is kind of adorable.
So there you have it! Some Kickstarter games that have gotten me pulling out my credit card recently. What about you? Any games on Kickstarter, or anywhere else, that you're excited about?
